On March 28, Story Planet partnered with Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers (Facebook, Instagram) for a writing workshop with Pushcart Prize nominated local writer, Nadia Shahbaz!
Here are what some of the students of Marc Garneau said:
“I went deep and wrote about my ancestral roots which I wasn’t expecting.”
“I thought I didn’t have anything to write about but then I put my pen to paper and realized I did.”
By the end of the workshop, participants had a collection of story ideas and early drafts. Keep an eye out for their stories in “More Than a Garden,” a book on community, nature, rootedness, and interconnection—and watch this space for more events coming soon!

We are so excited to launch our brand new event series: Wine & Story Night!
Come to Story Planet on Friday, May 11 for a hilarious and entertaining night! You’ll be guided by a professional playwright and artist through a hysterical writing process. At the end, you’ll take home your own script, printed, bound, and illustrated by the artist!
Wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available throughout the evening, because we now how to host a good party.
Hurry and buy your tickets HERE!
All proceeds will go towards funding our programming for marginalized children and youth.
Story Planet will be holding one of our galaxy-famous – nay, universe-famous – programs at the beautiful AGO on Saturday, March 21! Join us from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at our An Alien Has Landed event, where discerning space detectives aged 3-12 will have the opportunity to participate in a day of clue hunting, story creation, and art programming. You’ll find us in the AGO’s Children’s Workshop Space. We hope to see you there!
